Q: SOME CLAIM THAT MUFTI RAFI UTHMANI AND MUFTI TAQI SAY THAT DIGITAL PHOTOS ARE PERMISSIBLE. THUS, MAY A PERSON WHO TAKES DIGITAL PHOTOS OR WATCHES TV, PERFORM IMAAMATE?
A: Such a person is a Faasiq. It is not permissible for a Faasiq to perform Imaamate. Appointing such a person as an Imaam, is sinful. There is no valid difference of opinion regarding digital photos. Digital photos are Haraam according to all the Ulama-e-Haq. Those who claim that digital photos and TV are permissible, are Shayaateen! If the liberal Mufti Taqi or liberal Mufti Rafi have adopted such a view, then they have merely adopted the baseless opinion of the Shayaateen! We do not follow liberals. We follow the Shariah. Comparing a digital photo to a mirror or negating it from the scope of a picture is the view of a person who lacks intelligence and who wishes or attempts to reject reality. It is commonsense that a digital photo is in fact a picture. Thus, digital photos of animate objects are Haraam.
